Surgical Technician II $2,500 Sign-On Bonus

Essential Functions

Understands sterile technique and has a working knowledge of the specialized instrumentation and equipment required for a variety of specialty procedures.
Maintains an orderly surgical field and responsible for consistently passing instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
Anticipates and prioritizes the needs of the various steps associated with the procedure.
Participates in sponge, needle and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure.
Maintains the surgical specimen in a manner which identifies and preserves it for pathology evaluation.
Assists in ordering and stocking of specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and departmental guidelines.
Competent in specific tasks and skills as defined by the Surgical Services competency list.
Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Respects the rights and privacy of others and holds staff member information in strict confidence.
Maintains regular attendance and complies with time and attendance policy and procedure.
Adheres to South Lake Hospital’s policies and procedures; Mission, Vision and Values statements; Code of Conduct.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards including Federal, State, local and Joint Commission.
Prioritizes workload to manage multiple priorities.
Uses problem-solving skills to meet goals.
Enhances professional growth by participating in educational programs, current literature and/or workshops.

Other Related Functions

Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned.
Aware of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Practices efficient use of supplies.
Maintains a clean, safe and organized unit.
Performs other related duties as needed.


High school graduate or GED equivalency required.
Successful completion of Surgical Technology training program.


Current American Heart Association BLS for HCP required.
Current National CST Certification required.


Minimum of 2 years surgical tech experience required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
